Your workplace

The Department of Surgery at Central Hospital Karlstad offers a broad range of services, including inpatient wards, surgical and urology outpatient clinics, a breast center, and our highly regarded endoscopy unit. Our endoscopy unit is one of the finest in Sweden, performing both planned and acute examinations during daytime, as well as advanced procedures in the gastrointestinal tract.

Our cheerful and competent team consists of about twenty professionals from different healthcare backgrounds, who enjoy working together and supporting one another. The unit has a warm, family-like atmosphere combined with a high level of professionalism. Patients and medical trainees alike often tell us how welcome and well cared for they feel here.

We are strongly focused on development and quality. Regularly, we provide training in colonoscopy techniques for physicians and endoscopy staff from across Sweden. A few years ago, we also benefited from the expertise of a specialist from Japan, who trained us in performing ESD (Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection).

Your role

As part of our team, your tasks will include performing diagnostic endoscopic examinations and a variety of gastrointestinal procedures. Administrative duties are also part of the role, such as assessing referrals, participating in polyp conferences, and providing consultation support.

We are now looking to expand our physician team with a specialist who would like to work full-time with endoscopy. On-call duties may be included but can be discussed on an individual basis.

This is a 6-month temporary position with the possibility of permanent employment.

Your qualifications and skills

We are seeking a specialist physician in surgery or gastroenterology with several years of endoscopy experience. You should be able to communicate well in both Swedish and English.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities. A commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care is essential. You should be able to work well in a team, while also making independent decisions. A solution-oriented approach is highly valued, as are openness, drive, and a positive attitude. An interest in developing and improving our services is also desirable.
